Questions about the escape of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was deposed on August 5, to India, have come up in Calcutta University exams.
Although the question did not directly mention Bangladesh or Sheikh Hasina's name. However, the question is still under fire.
Because the statement of a group, there is a mistake in that question. According to another quarter, the question was asked to check the recent political knowledge of the students.
According to the report of Times of India, this wrong question was asked in the examination of the fifth semester of the political science department of Calcutta University. The question is - 'Which head of state of India's neighboring country has taken political asylum in India in 2024?'
In this regard, the professors of different universities of Kolkata said that the former prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, has moved to India.
But Sheikh Hasina was not given 'political asylum' in India.
They said that there is no specific law in India about giving 'asylum' to someone. In that context, how is 'political asylum' mentioned in the Calcutta University question? Professors claimed that such mistakes are inexcusable.
But there is one more mistake. Former vice-chancellor of Calcutta University and political scientist Sabyasachi Basu Roy Chowdhury admitted that.
He said, 'The question is completely wrong. Because the head of state of Bangladesh is their president Mohammad Sahabuddin. Sheikh Hasina was the head of government. Apart from this, political asylum is mentioned. India has not granted any political asylum to Hasina so far. Such wrong questions can confuse students. This is unacceptable. '
Meanwhile, Professor Sameer Kumar Das of Political Science Department of Calcutta University believes that the mistake of writing 'Rashtra Pradhan' to check students' merit may be deliberate.
According to him, it is correct to mention the issue of political asylum in the question. Because, it has to be seen whether it goes with our diplomatic talk or not.
Calcutta University authorities have not commented on the controversial and incorrect question on neighboring states. According to the report, a member of the graduate level board said that although there was a ruckus in the faculty over the question, nothing was communicated in writing.
